When should I book an AC tune-up in NYC?
April or May, before the first heat wave. Systems that have sat all winter show their problems in the first hot week, when everyone needs service at once.
Book in April and May
A spring AC tune-up checks and cleans a system before it has to run hard: coils, filters, condensate drains, electrical parts and airflow. In NYC the first heat wave brings a rush of no-cool calls, and most of them trace back to something a tune-up in April or May would have caught.
An air conditioner that sat idle all winter shows its problems in the first hot week, when every system in the city is being switched on at once. A clogged condensate drain overflows, a weak capacitor fails on a hot afternoon, and a coil loaded with a year of city grime cannot reject heat. Found in spring, each of these is a routine fix. Found in a heat wave, it means waiting in line.
Ductless mini-splits including Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu and LG, central AC systems including Carrier and Trane, and PTAC through-the-wall units in apartments and hotels. For buildings with many units we can work floor by floor and record each unit's condition.
It does not top up refrigerant by default. A system that is low has a leak, and adding refrigerant without finding it only delays the next failure. If we find a leak or a failing part, you get the price of the repair before any work.

No. Refrigerant is checked when the readings point to a problem. A low system has a leak, and the leak is what needs repairing.
Yes. We service ductless mini-splits, central AC and PTAC through-the-wall units, including whole buildings floor by floor.
Yes. If the tune-up finds a failing part or a leak, we explain it and give you the price before any repair work.
